Jet Set

This place is awesome! They really do have everything! Here you can find older music like Jazz, Soul, Rock and Classics and also the newer stuff: Hip-hop, House, Techno, Reggae, Indies and Pop.

“What I like about it,” said my friend Nana H. (who recommended it to me), “is you can listen to all the records.”

This from their online profile: “Open since 1998.As one of the biggest vinyl megastores in Japan, JET SET carries high quality music from home and abroad in all genres from Hip Hop, House, Techno, Jazz, Soul to Indie Pop. As for our imported selection, we receive goods directly from overseas every day. Not only do our items come in at top speed, but our selection is also one of the best in the world. For CDs, we carry a large assortment of Japanese indie artists as well as artists’ self-produced items.”

You can find Jet Set on the west side of Kawaramachi north of Sanjo, just after the 7-11 convenience store. It’s on the 4th floor of the Unity Building. Check out their website (in English!) for more information on these stores, for online shopping and also for a most convenient map: LINK. Open 13:00 – 21:00.
